Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the India-Norway Business and Research Summit, advocating for enhanced Norwegian investment in sectors crucial to India's growth, such as the blue economy, renewable energy, and start-ups. Norway's Crown Prince Haakon and Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre also participated, showcasing high-level commitment to bilateral ties.
The summit drew more than 250 participants, including CEOs from over 50 companies within the Norwegian and Indian business communities. This event symbolized the increasing momentum in economic cooperation following the implementation of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA), which has become a cornerstone of economic diplomacy between the two nations.
Prior meetings included roundtable sessions focusing on healthcare, maritime collaboration, and green technologies. PM Modi emphasized the goal to reach a USD 100 billion investment target, consequently generating one million jobs. With EFTA covering critical sectors and fostering innovation, TEPA aims to strengthen market access and drive sustainable growth.
