CPI-M protests over fuel prices, LPG shortage in Jaipur

CPI (M) workers protested outside the Jaipur district collectorate over rising fuel prices, LPG cylinder shortages, and alleged corruption in e-Mitra services, submitting a memorandum to the district collector.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) workers on Tuesday protested outside the district collectorate here against the central and the state government over rising fuel prices, shortage of LPG cylinders, and alleged corruption in e-Mitra services.

After the demonstration, party leaders submitted a memorandum to Jaipur District Collector Sandesh Nayak highlighting various public issues.

CPI (M) district secretary Dr Sanjay Madhav alleged that the increase in petrol and diesel prices by the Centre had added to the burden on people already facing economic difficulties and had led to a rise in inflation.

''Oil and gas companies have earned large profits over the past few years due to lower crude oil prices in the international market, but the common people are now being made to bear the burden,'' he said.

The party leaders also raised the issue of shortage and black marketing of domestic LPG cylinders, alleging that cylinders were being sold in the black market at prices ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000.

The delegation also alleged irregularities and corruption in e-Mitra services and demanded action against overcharging and exploitation of people through the centres.

They also raised concerns over drinking water shortage in Jaipur city, nearby towns and rural areas, particularly in Chomu. They alleged that water tanker operators were exploiting the crisis for profit.
