Woman alleges gang-rape, forced into marriage after conversion; 4 held in Jamia Nagar

A 23-year-old woman was allegedly kidnapped, gang-raped, and forced into marriage after a coerced conversion in Delhi's Jamia Nagar, with four of the six accused arrested.

A 23-year-old woman was allegedly kidnapped, gang-raped and forced into marriage following a coerced conversion in Jamia Nagar here, police said on Thursday.

Four of the six accused, including a woman, have been arrested in southeast Delhi, while the main accused is currently lodged in Dasna jail in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad in another case, an officer said.

According to police, the accused befriended the woman, who belongs to another religion, on social media using the fake identity.

The matter came to light on May 14 when the woman approached police and alleged that she was kidnapped and forced to marry the accused after conversion.

She told the police that she was sexually assaulted by the accused between 2021 and 2025.

Based on her complaint, police registered a case under Sections 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing a woman to compel her marriage), 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.

Police sources said the accused was also involved in illegal gun trading.

A police officer said so far, police have not found any guns during the raids conducted by the team.

''We have also procured a transit remand of the main accused, and he will be brought to Delhi for investigation. Teams will also take the accused to the crime spot to understand the sequence of the events,'' the officer said.

Further investigation is underway.
