In a significant development for the Indian Navy, Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, PVSM, AVSM, NM, assumed responsibilities as the 48th Vice Chief of the Naval Staff (VCNS) this Friday. His appointment signifies a continuation of dedicated service and leadership within India's naval forces.

Vice Admiral Kochhar has an illustrious history with the Indian Navy, having been commissioned on July 1, 1988, after graduating from the National Defence Academy, Pune. He specializes in Gunnery and Missile Systems and has commanded multiple Indian naval ships and the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya. His leadership was pivotal during the integration and operationalisation of its air wing.
