In the wake of a devastating fire at a Malviya Nagar bed-and-breakfast establishment, which claimed at least 21 lives, Delhi Home Minister Ashish Sood convened a high-level review meeting on Wednesday. The tragic incident prompted swift action, including a magisterial inquiry to investigate its causes.

During the meeting, attended by the city's Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, a citywide fire safety enforcement campaign was launched. "Today, with Hon'ble LG Shri @SandhuTaranjitS Ji, we addressed the tragedy in Malviya Nagar. The loss is painful, demanding decisive action. Effective immediately, teams from district administration, police, municipal authorities, and fire services will conduct inspections to enforce safety norms," Sood announced.

Additionally, Sood inspected the affected site, uncovering serious safety violations, such as unauthorized expansions and blocked evacuation routes. Acting swiftly, he ordered comprehensive inspections and enforcement actions across Delhi, targeting non-compliant guest houses. Meanwhile, police issued a Lookout Circular for the co-owner of the establishment involved.
