In a vibrant celebration of World Environment Day, hundreds flocked to Shimla to participate in a mini-marathon organized by the Himachal Pradesh Police. The event underscored three vital messages: environmental preservation, tackling the menace of heroin abuse, known locally as 'Chitta', and encouraging public participation in the ongoing Census.
Spanning two categories of 10-kilometer and 3-kilometer races, the marathon commenced at the historic Ridge Maidan, drawing participants from varied demographics. National Kabaddi player and DSP Ajay Thakur applauded the initiative, echoing the call for youth to steer clear of drugs and contribute to a healthier Himachal Pradesh.
Numerous attendees, including Rohan, a doctor from Pune, emphasized the importance of such events in raising social awareness. Local participants like Harleen Kaur and Riya Sharma highlighted the campaign's effectiveness in addressing drug issues among youth and promoting environmental conservation. The marathon was inaugurated by Governor Kavinder Gupta, who reinforced the need for community-driven efforts in making Himachal Pradesh drug-free and environmentally sustainable.
