The owner of Flourish Stays Hotel in Delhi, Lovekesh Bajaj, finds himself amidst a legal turmoil, facing allegations not only related to a tragic fire incident but also for facilitating illegal residency through false identity documents.
Delhi Police charged Bajaj after revelations that he permitted Bangladeshi nationals, Sweety Sarkar and her daughter Pushpo, to use his address to fraudulently acquire Indian identity documentation, allegedly in return for monetary compensation. This case, identified on January 29, 2025, unveiled that the two women and a minor had illicitly secured crucial Indian documents like Aadhaar cards and passports, leading authorities back to Bajaj.
His arrest comes amid a separate investigation where he faces serious charges related to a fire at his hotel in Malviya Nagar which resulted in 21 deaths and 28 injuries. Bajaj, now in police custody, is charged under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including for culpable homicide and negligence.
