The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is intensifying its cybersecurity measures by retaining COEMPT Eduteck Pvt Ltd for the critical task of scanning answer sheets, an official revealed to ANI. This move coincides with transferring all data from third-party servers to those controlled by CBSE to boost system security.
Despite COEMPT's history with the on-screen marking (OSM) system, the company continues to play a vital role in the re-evaluation process. It previously scanned a vast volume of pages with minimal issues, a CBSE official noted, suggesting confidence in COEMPT's capability to handle re-evaluation efficiently.
Recent vulnerabilities in the OSM platform prompted CBSE to seek the expertise of IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras, particularly after targeted cyberattacks, including a significant Denial-of-Service event. Experts have been reviewing and strengthening the system to secure CBSE's operations, with assistance from COEMPT during the transition.
