In a significant move to bolster cybersecurity, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has transferred all data pertaining to the On-screen Marking (OSM) system from COEMPT Eduteck Pvt Ltd's servers to its own infrastructure, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance control over re-evaluation processes.
Amidst past controversies over vulnerabilities, COEMPT remains involved in scanning answer sheets during re-evaluation. An official confirmed their role, stating that despite previous technical hiccups, the company should handle remaining tasks effectively. COEMPT's historical performance showed only minimal page-related errors in a substantial scanning volume.
Security enhancements come following significant cyber threats, including a June 3 DoS attack. Teams from IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras conducted comprehensive security audits, with a focus on hardening both the CBSE registration and OSM portals. CBSE, with aid from Digital India Corporation, has implemented robust measures to mitigate any future attacks.
