In a significant move towards bolstering India's border security framework, the Land Port Management System (LPMS) is set to be launched, as announced by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah. This initiative, under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, underscores the government’s focus on modernizing border and internal security operations.
Scheduled for launch in New Delhi, the LPMS is anticipated to revolutionize cross-border trade and passenger movement, utilizing technology-driven solutions to augment efficiency, transparency, and security. Accompanying the launch are new accommodations at Dawki and Srimantapur land ports, expected to enhance support for crucial border stakeholders.
The LPMS, integrating operations across India’s land ports, represents a pivotal step in the nation’s journey towards a smart border management system. By providing real-time logistics and regulatory information, the system aims to match the digital capabilities of existing airport and seaport management frameworks, promising improved coordination among governmental and private entities.
