An Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) panel has granted security clearance to a new examiner-facing portal for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), facilitating the re-evaluation of answer sheets for thousands of students. This move comes in the wake of discontinuing the previous portal developed by Coempt EduTeck due to significant security concerns.
CBSE's adoption of the fortified portal marks a significant step in safeguarding the re-evaluation process. The new system, developed with assistance from Digital India Corporation (DIC), IIT Madras, and IIT Kanpur, addresses vulnerabilities identified in the Coempt EduTeck system. The IIT panel emphasized improvements in security rather than functionality, ensuring better data protection.
To mitigate security threats, CBSE has transitioned data and records from vendor servers to its own, following recommendations from the IIT evaluation team. During the re-evaluation application period, thousands of students submitted requests through the post-result grievance redressal process, with over 70,000 applications received by June 4.
