In an intense spell of weather, Udhampur district in Jammu and Kashmir braces under the relentless grip of a heatwave, with extreme conditions forecasted to persist. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reports the scorching heat in North India is set to continue until tomorrow, predicting a rise in temperatures by 2-4°C through to June 11, followed by a gradual dip.

A heatwave warning blankets isolated regions across Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad regions, including other Northern states such as Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, West Rajasthan, and parts of Uttar Pradesh, effective until June 11. However, a significant shift is on the horizon as a Western Disturbance is anticipated to bring widespread changes across North India's weather from June 11.

The IMD forecasts isolated to scattered rainfall across Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand between June 9-14, with broader rain likely over Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan from June 10-14. During this period, thunder squalls with winds up to 60 kmph, gusty conditions, and lightning could strike states like Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh on June 11-12. Isolated hailstorm activity is expected in parts such as Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand on June 11-12 and potentially affecting Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi on June 12. Residents are urged to stay informed through local weather updates and prepared for any emergency relocations if weather conditions intensify.
