In a heart-wrenching incident, four individuals, including three Station House Officers and their driver, died after their vehicle collided with a truck on National Highway-31 near Bakhadda, Begusarai, Bihar. The officers, returning from a special training in Patna, were en route to their district stations when the fatal crash occurred under the Sahebpur Kamal police station's jurisdiction.
Begusarai Superintendent of Police, Maneesh, confirmed that the collision happened between 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m., tragically claiming four lives. The officers’ car rammed into the back of a truck causing a severe impact. Eyewitnesses described the scene as the vehicle was left mangled with its roof collapsed, trapping the occupants inside.
Sajan Paswan, Neeraj Kumar, and Gyanendra Amrendra were the SHOs who perished alongside their private driver, Jyotish Kumar. Neeraj and Gyanendra along with Jyotish died on the spot, while Sajan succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Preliminary reports indicate high speed as a significant factor in the accident, as the car reportedly traveled over 100 km/h. The driver likely lost control of the car, leading it to crash into the truck ahead.
A rescue operation was quickly mounted by police and local residents, taking nearly an hour to remove those trapped inside. Senior police officials, including Begusarai SP Manish Kumar and DSP Anand Pandey, hurried to the site, overseeing efforts to recover the bodies and remove the wreckage. After post-mortem examinations, the bodies were returned to their families, engulfing their homes in grief.
This tragedy has sent shockwaves through the Bihar Police department, with personnel mourning the loss of three SHOs. An investigation has begun, seizing both the wrecked car and truck involved, to determine the exact cause of the accident, with speed suspected as the primary factor.
