Ashoka University Appoints Renowned Academic Leader as Next Vice Chancellor

Ashoka University has named Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan as its new Vice-Chancellor, starting August 2026. Known for his expertise in innovation and institution-building, Krishnan will further enhance the university's global standing. His appointment follows a successful tenure by Professor Somak Raychaudhury, marked by significant advancements and collaborations.

In a decisive move to further bolster its academic prestige, Ashoka University announced Professor Rishikesha T. Krishnan as its next Vice-Chancellor on Monday. Set to assume the position from August 2026, the appointment marks a strategic step for the institution as it seeks to advance its global reputation.

Recognized as one of India's foremost academic leaders, Professor Krishnan was selected after an exhaustive search conducted by a committee under the university's Governing Body. With a wealth of experience from previous top-tier leadership roles at IIM Bangalore and IIM Indore, he brings a distinct focus on innovation and higher education leadership to Ashoka.

Chancellor Rudrangshu Mukherjee expressed his confidence in Krishnan's ability to guide the university at this pivotal stage. Similarly, Ashoka's Founder, Pramath Raj Sinha, emphasized Krishnan's leadership prowess.
