Philip Hammond has resigned as the Chancellor of the Exchequer of the United Kingdom. He submitted his resignation letter ahead of Theresa May's own resignation. He wrote in his resignation letter May's successor must be free to choose a Chancellor who is fully aligned with his policy position.
I have just handed in my resignation to @theresa_may. It has been a privilege to serve as her Chancellor of the Exchequer for the last three years. pic.twitter.com/pcCkvKhQxj

Yesterday, UK Justice Minister David Michael Gauke resigned from his post after the announcement of Boris Johnson's win of the Conservative leadership. Earlier yesterday British Minister of State at the Department for Education, Anne Milton also resigned from her post saying she has "grave concerns about leaving the EU without a deal".
Hammond had announced on Sunday that he would resign if Johnson becomes the prime minister as he would not be able to work in a cabinet that accepted the possibility of a no-deal Brexit. Throughout the Tory leadership contest, Johnson, a leading Eurosceptic, has said the UK will leave the EU on October 31, "deal or no deal".
