Maha: special vaccination drive for bed-ridden persons

A special COVID-19 vaccination drive will be undertaken for bed-ridden persons in the state, the Maharashtra health department announced on Saturday.

Persons who are bed-ridden and who are likely to remain in that condition for the next six months will be considered for this drive, it said.

“Contact details of such persons, a doctor's letter and consent letter of a family member should be sent to `covidvacc2bedridden@gmail.com', said a release. The department will scrutinize the requests and send its teams for vaccination (at home or hospital), it said.

After some political leaders were reportedly given vaccine doses at home, a PIL was filed in the Bombay High Court seeking door-to-door vaccination for all those who can not leave house due to old age, disability or illness.
