Health Minister Dhani Ram Shandil on Thursday directed health department officials to expedite the process for procuring medical machinery and equipment in health institutions across the state to ensure quality healthcare at people's doorsteps.

Shandil emphasized that technical specifications for purchases should align with the standards set by AIIMS and PGI to ensure quality and efficiency in procurement, saving both time and money.

During a Special High Power Purchase Committee meeting, the minister reiterated the government's commitment to providing timely and top-quality healthcare. Approval was granted for procuring Baby Care Kits for newborns, costing approximately Rs 1,500 each, with a budget provision of Rs 10 crore for around one lakh deliveries annually.

The kits will include 20 items, such as a digital thermometer, nail cutter, baby clothing, and sanitary napkins for mothers. Additionally, the minister chaired the Himachal Pradesh Medical Services Corporation's third board meeting, approving various demands, including machinery, testing vehicles, and furniture for hospitals.
