Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced on Monday an ambitious initiative to improve health facilities for serving soldiers, ex-servicemen, and their families.
The plan involves creating healthcare services similar to Army polyclinics in various towns, based on need and in coordination with the Indian Army, according to an official statement.
The move aims to ensure that military personnel and their dependents can access necessary healthcare services close to home. Saini highlighted that existing Army hospitals and polyclinics in Panchkula, Ambala, and Hisar would serve as models for new facilities to be developed based on the demands of soldiers.
In a meeting with health department officials, the chief minister emphasized coordinating with top Army officials to implement the initiative effectively. The Haryana government will provide the necessary resources for these health facilities.
Saini also pointed out a demand from ex-servicemen for enhanced health services in areas with a significant ex-servicemen population, such as Rewari, Rohtak, and Mahendragarh. Establishing medical institutions in these regions will hugely benefit soldiers, ex-servicemen, and their families.
The chief minister added that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Haryana is continuously working on improving the state's medical infrastructure. Sub-health centres, primary health centres, and community health centres are being set up to offer better healthcare services to all citizens.
Existing hospitals are being upgraded, and a medical college is being established in each district, along with nursing colleges, to address the shortage of doctors and paramedical staff in the state, he said.
