On Monday, patients at Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital faced significant disruptions as resident doctors initiated an indefinite strike following the murder of a patient inside the hospital ward. This strike has severely affected services in the Outpatient Department (OPD), lab, and other essential departments.
According to hospital sources, the emergency operation theatre, which usually performs nine to ten surgeries a day, managed to conduct only one procedure due to the strike. The strike commenced at 9 am, immediately impacting routine and non-emergency patient care.
Visitors, including Shudarshan Prashad and Anirudh, voiced their frustrations, citing long waits and the non-admittance of new patients. Meanwhile, the Delhi government has responded by deploying two armed guards and installing metal detectors at hospital emergency entries to prevent further incidents. The Delhi Police arrested two individuals in connection with the case.
