Colorado confirmed four infections and is investigating a suspected fifth case. The CDC team, consisting of epidemiologists, veterinarians, clinicians, and an industrial hygienist, is supporting the state's evaluation of the outbreak and the affected individuals.

Current data suggests that the general public's risk remains low. The CDC noted no unusual increases in flu activity in Colorado or other states experiencing bird flu outbreaks among cows and poultry. Workers were culling chickens at an unnamed commercial egg facility in northeast Colorado following an outbreak on a 1.8 million-bird egg farm in Weld County on July 8, as per state agriculture and health departments.

These represent the first reported infections among U.S. poultry workers since 2022. Genetic sequencing of the virus is ongoing to identify any mutations that might alter the risk assessment.
