In a tragic incident in Hyderabad, Telangana, an 18-month-old boy was mauled to death by street dogs in Jawahar Nagar on Tuesday night. Another boy was injured in a similar dog attack in Jagtial district, police reported on Wednesday.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed deep anguish over the death and instructed officials to implement measures to prevent such incidents in the future. He urged the establishment of a toll-free number or call center to report dog menace.
The authorities are looking to form a committee of experts and step up vaccination drives against the canine menace. Health officials have been directed to ensure that adequate medicines are available for treating dog bite victims at urban and primary healthcare centers across the state.
