Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Saturday directed the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to waive the Rs 100 registration fee for street food vendors. Nadda emphasized the creation of street food hubs across the country to boost business opportunities for vendors.

During a training and awareness program attended by around 1,350 street food vendors at Vigyan Bhawan, Nadda announced the fee waiver. He noted that the waiver aims to encourage more registrations and highlighted the importance of safe practices and cleanliness in food handling.

The FSSAI will also provide 'Street Safe' rapid testing kits to participating vendors, while the Union Health Minister urged vendors to apply the training in their daily practices. Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel underscored the cultural significance of street food and the need for hygiene. The initiative is part of the government's broader effort to ensure food safety and enhance business opportunities for street food vendors.
