At least four doctors and a nurse faced an assault by two female relatives of a patient at the civic-run Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Thane, police reported on Friday. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon when the women accused the hospital employees of neglecting the male patient, an official revealed.

Per the complaint lodged by a doctor at the hospital in Kalwa, two female relatives claimed the male patient had not been fed for three days and questioned why he had not been moved to the ICU. This accusation led to a physical confrontation.

The women, aged 36 and 40, assaulted a male doctor trying to explain the patient's condition and treatment. Subsequently, they also attacked three female doctors and a nurse who attempted to intervene. Legal action has been initiated against the women under the Bharatiya Nayaya Sanhita and the Maharashtra Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage or Loss to Property) Act, confirmed the station house officer of Kalwa police station.
