This advisory follows the tragic alleged rape and killing of a trainee doctor at a government hospital in Kolkata, which has sparked protests among resident doctors nationwide.
The NMC underscores the need for robust security measures, including CCTV surveillance, adequate lighting in sensitive areas, and the deployment of security personnel, to protect faculty, students, and staff.
The commission also mandates prompt investigations and official reports on incidents of violence against medical students, requiring a detailed action-taken report to be submitted within 48 hours.
