Guests, who were attending the memorial ceremony for Pradip Gogoi's mother in Pasghoria village, reported symptoms such as stomach ache, headache, and vomiting immediate after eating traditional 'jalpan'.
Amidst the chaos, 53 individuals were rushed to health facilities, while two were transferred to Jorhat Medical College for advanced care. Local authorities, including MLA Biswajit Phukan, are ensuring health checks and investigation into the incident.
