Mumbai has reported its first death due to Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) following an outbreak in Pune. A 53-year-old hospital ward boy succumbed after a critical battle with the nerve disorder. Authorities confirm all healthcare facilities are prepared to manage and treat GBS cases effectively.

Mumbai has documented its first death from Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), marking a concerning development amidst an outbreak in the neighboring Pune region. City officials confirmed that a 53-year-old man from Wadala, employed as a ward boy at a city hospital, succumbed to the disorder after receiving treatment.

The patient, admitted on January 23, exhibited symptoms of muscle weakness and was placed in the ICU after his condition deteriorated. City authorities have ensured that all hospital facilities are equipped with necessary resources to handle GBS cases.

In addition to the growing number of cases in Pune, Mumbai officials recorded the first incidence of GBS on February 7. Healthcare facilities in the city remain vigilant, providing appropriate care for patients afflicted by this rare neurological disorder.
