The Gujarat Assembly on Friday unanimously passed a bill amending a 2022 law, extending the deadline by six months for clinical establishments, including hospitals, to apply for provisional registration. The decision was supported by opposition parties, including Congress, reflecting a rare consensus.

Under the revised Gujarat Clinical Establishment (Registration and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, 2025, the deadline for applying for provisional registration is extended to September 12, 2025. Health Minister Rushikesh Patel emphasized the necessity of providing reasonable time for healthcare institutions to comply with registration mandates.

In another significant amendment, the bill excludes 'yoga and naturopathy' from the definition of recognized systems of medicine requiring registration. This places a focus on allopathy, ayurveda, homeopathy, siddha, and unani systems. Additionally, a fine structure is in place for establishments that fail to register or furnish required information.
