The Delhi government has announced plans to expand its free dialysis services across all state-run hospitals as part of the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme. Health Minister Pankaj Singh revealed this on World Kidney Day, emphasizing the city's dedication to enhancing healthcare infrastructure under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's leadership.

Focusing on economically disadvantaged citizens, Singh emphasized that prioritizing this group in Delhi's hospitals ensures equal access to high-quality care. He urged medical staff to maintain professionalism and compassion in treating patients, to foster a supportive and welcoming environment.

The minister stressed the importance of a healthy lifestyle for kidney health, linking the rise in kidney diseases to conditions such as hypertension, obesity, and high blood sugar. Early detection and lifestyle changes are crucial for reducing the risk of kidney-related illnesses. The initiative was part of a global campaign to raise awareness about kidney health, hosted at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences.
