Doctors affiliated with the Faculty Association of AIIMS (FAIMS) and the Faculty Association of PGIMER held a peaceful demonstration on Friday. The protest aimed to accelerate the implementation of the rotatory headship policy, seen as vital for enhancing fairness and accountability within India's top medical institutions.
The march, which initiated at AIIMS, Delhi, with faculty members converging at the JLN Auditorium, progressed toward Parliament but was halted by police barricades near Gate 1. Subsequent discussions took place between FAIMS representatives and the AIIMS director to advance the concerns raised during the demonstration.
Despite clear directives for the policy's execution and prominent support from the Indian Medical Association, doctors have warned of further action if resolutions are not met by mid-August. Their demands highlight the policy as a longstanding recommendation already adopted by premier institutions nationwide.
