In an unprecedented move, over 14,700 individuals engaged in a live demonstration of Compression-only Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), as part of a sweeping initiative by the Health Ministry to sensitize the populace on the significance of timely bystander response during cardiac emergencies.
The CPR Awareness Week, from October 13-17, drew commitments from 79,870 participants on the MyGov portal, emphasizing the need for enhanced CPR awareness in India. The week's activities were aimed at bridging the gap between CPR's life-saving potential and its current application rates in the country.
An array of stakeholders, including state and Union Territories' health departments, central hospitals, and medical institutions, contributed to the expansive training sessions, reaching over 6 lakh participants. Digital initiatives like quizzes and social media outreach further bolstered public engagement, with active participation from youth volunteers.
