Punjab Boosts Health Services with Rs 572.66 Crore Grant Under NHM

In the fiscal year 2025-26, the Union government has allotted Rs 572.66 crore towards improving healthcare services in Punjab under the National Health Mission (NHM), Union Health Minister J P Nadda announced in the Rajya Sabha. This funding aims to equip rural and urban health centers with essential healthcare services.
The initiative seeks to deliver comprehensive healthcare packages covering reproductive health, communicable diseases, and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes and cancer. Emphasizing maternal and child health, government actions include programs like Janani Suraksha Yojana and Mission Indradhanush.
Evaluation and progress monitoring are handled via mechanisms like the Single Nodal Agency (SNA-SPARSH). Financial oversight ensures funds are released in compliance with expenditure guidelines, with ongoing assessments taking place through reviews, conferences, and field visits.
