The Seraikela-Kharsawan district has launched an investigation following the alleged deaths of a mother and her newborn due to suspected negligence at Rajnagar's Community Health Centre. Officials focus on power outages that reportedly forced the delivery to occur using a mobile flashlight, raising severe concerns about healthcare practices.
Seraikela-Kharsawan Deputy Commissioner Nitish Kumar Singh confirmed that a three-member team is tasked with probing the deaths. The inquiry will assess the failure of multiple power sources at the centre, as claimed by the victim's husband, Durga Charan Banra, who insists on compliance failures during his wife's delivery process.
Amidst these allegations, local BJP leaders have levied criticism at the state government for its perceived insensitivity and perceived deterioration in healthcare services. This tragic delivery mishap—attributed to postpartum complications—has sparked wider scrutiny over the systemic shortcomings within the region’s public health infrastructure.
