Vijayawada Airport has begun screening international travelers for the Ebola virus, as part of measures instated by the Andhra Pradesh government. This health protocol commenced on Tuesday and involves a dedicated medical camp manned by a doctor and paramedical staff.

International flights land at this airport from Singapore only three times a week, every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Screenings have been prioritized for these incoming flights. The recent stoppage of flights from Sharjah was linked to geopolitical tensions involving the US, Israel, and Iran.

According to the World Health Organization, the Ebola virus is a deadly infectious disease affecting both humans and primates. The disease spreads via contact with the bodily fluids of infected individuals or through surfaces contaminated with infection-carrying fluids.
