Sharjah Self-Defence Triumphs in No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu Championship
Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club dominated the second round of the Khaled bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship at Dubai's Coca-Cola Arena. The event, organised by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, saw athletes from Youth, Adults, and Masters categories participate. M.O.D UAE and Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club took second and third places, respectively.

Dubai [UAE], July 15 (ANI/WAM): Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club clinched the top spot during the second round of the Khaled bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship. The No-Gi competitions, held at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on Sunday, attracted athletes from various categories, including Youth, Adults, and Masters.
The event featured elite athletes from the UAE's top clubs and academies, captivating audiences with their technical prowess and receiving enthusiastic support from fans and family members. Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club emerged victorious, followed by M.O.D UAE in second place and Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club in third.
This championship uses a comprehensive ranking system to evaluate clubs and athletes based on their performances across its five-round series. In the first round of Gi competitions, held last month at Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain Club led the medal table, with Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club and Baniyas Club following in second and third place, respectively.
Attendees included Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Suhail Al Maktoum, Executive Director of the Sports Development Sector at the General Authority of Sports; Sheikh Tariq bin Faisal Al Qassimi; Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and other key figures. Sheikh Suhail bin Butti Suhail Al Maktoum expressed pride in the championship's organisation and the level of competition, commending the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation for its successful execution.
He highlighted that the event showcases the significant progress of jiu-jitsu in the UAE, contributing to the sport's elevated status locally and internationally. The championship underscores the General Authority of Sports' commitment to fostering sports initiatives that encourage youth participation and skill development at competitive levels.
Mohamed Salem Al Dhaheri praised the success of the championship's second round, attributing it to the unwavering support from the UAE's leadership.
