US-India Ties Strengthen with Advanced Jet Engine Technology Sale

US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti highlights the deepening India-US relations with the sale of advanced jet engine technology to India. This collaboration extends across various projects, from cutting-edge research to climate financing and human rights initiatives, showcasing the strong partnership between the two democracies.

Highlighting the deepening India-US relations, US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti announced the sale of advanced jet engine technology to India, a move that underscores America's trust in India over even some of its closest allies.

Garcetti recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the US, mentioning that both nations have 173 ongoing projects, ranging from educational partnerships to cutting-edge research in disease cures and cancer treatment.

Last June, during Modi's historic state visit to the US, General Electric signed an agreement with Hindustan Aeronautics to co-produce F-414 fighter jet engines in India. The F414 engine, used by the US Navy for over 30 years, boasts advanced technology and reliability, making it a premier choice for modern fighter jets.

Garcetti emphasized the interoperability between the two nations, both in times of natural disasters and potential conflicts. He lauded the democratic values shared by India and the US, highlighting their mutual commitment to civil and human rights as well as non-violence movements inspired by leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr.

The ambassador also noted that the US's foreign policy invites criticism and collaboration on issues such as women's empowerment and minority rights. These initiatives, he said, set an example in contrast to global dictatorships and extremism.

On climate financing, Garcetti mentioned the largest solar manufacturing plant in southern India, which is creating jobs locally and exporting solar power components to the US, reducing dependency on minerals controlled by China.

Garcetti concluded by stating that the US-India relationship is comprehensive, spanning from the seabed to outer space, and is driven by both strategic interests and a sense of mutual warmth and collaboration.
