The United Arab Emirates (UAE) showcased its pioneering role in technological advancements at the G20 Labour and Employment Ministers' Meeting, which concluded on July 26 in Fortaleza, Brazil. Shayma Al Awadhi, Assistant Undersecretary for Communication and International Relations at the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), highlighted the critical role of G20 forums as platforms for addressing global labour market trends and achieving long-term strategic goals through innovative policies.

Al Awadhi detailed the UAE's strides in adopting cutting-edge technologies under its visionary leadership. These advancements aim to enhance productivity, streamline services, and integrate advanced technologies across all sectors. She emphasized the UAE's leadership in digital competitiveness, ranking 12th globally in 2023.

The UAE aims to double its digital economy's GDP contribution over the next decade and plans to invest USD 20 billion in digital technologies within three years. Highlighting the UAE's advanced digital infrastructure, Al Awadhi discussed significant investments in the fintech sector and various digital services, including the Wage Protection System. The G20 forum also focused on strategies for social inclusion, reducing gender pay gaps, and leveraging technology for a better quality of life.
