The enthronement celebrations of King Mohammed VI of Morocco were held in Delhi on Tuesday, marking an event of significant cultural importance for both nations. Moroccan Ambassador to India, Mohamed Maliki, highlighted the shared cultural heritage between the two ancient civilizations and expressed elation over the bonding between Moroccans and Indians.

Ambassador Maliki told ANI, 'Today is about celebrating our shared happiness and bright destiny. The large turnout today signifies the strong friendship between our two countries. Morocco's long, cultural heritage has flourished under the 25-year reign of King Mohammed VI. His monarchy represents a deep communion between the people and their king.'

Discussing the evolving Morocco-India relationship, Maliki pointed to the significant increase in bilateral trade, growing from USD1.1 billion in 2015 to USD4.2 billion in 2022, and a rise in the presence of Indian companies in Morocco. 'The future looks bright as we expand our cooperation in new fields,' said Maliki. The historical ties date back to the 14th century, further solidified by diplomatic relations established in 1957. Echoing this sentiment, Union Minister Anupriya Patel emphasized the robust trade partnerships and future collaborations, particularly in the phosphate sector, vital to India's food security. Patel extended heartfelt wishes to the people of Morocco on this joyous occasion.
