The national council of the Bharat-Tibet Sahayog Manch (BTSM) convened in Sonipat, Haryana to address pivotal issues concerning Tibet and to censure China's policies and expansionist ambitions against the region.
The meeting was attended by 267 members from 24 states, and five crucial resolutions focusing on Tibet and Sino-Indian relations were adopted. Among the distinguished guests was Kalon Dolma Gyari from the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), who delivered a pointed address condemning China's aggressive stance. She called for global recognition and collective action against China's intentions, emphasizing the importance of standing firm.
Furthermore, BTSM criticized China's interference in the traditional process for selecting the next Dalai Lama. The organization urged India and the international community to honor the current Dalai Lama's selection statement and safeguard Tibetan spiritual traditions. Indresh Kumar Ji and Kalon Dolma Gyari highlighted the essential nature of this issue, underlining the need to preserve Tibet's spiritual integrity.
The gathering underscored the message, "China's border is the Chinese wall, the rest is occupation," promoting the rejection of Chinese goods and encouraging dialogue with the exiled Tibetan government. Insights from the Central Tibetan Administration shed light on the injustices faced by Tibetans under Chinese rule, advocating for a united global response.
In solidarity, BTSM paid tribute to individuals affected by recent natural calamities and condemned human conflict-induced violence, offering prayers for recovery. The Deputy Coordinator of the India Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO), Tashi Dekyi, and her team distributed Tibet-related literature, participating actively in the two-day event.
A notable moment was the keynote address by Pankaj Goyal and Indresh Kumar, declaring 2025 as Karuna Varsh (Year of Compassion) to mark the 90th birthday of the Dalai Lama. The year-long celebrations aim to promote peace, non-violence, brotherhood, and love. BTSM pledged to form a committee to coordinate these celebrations globally. Indresh Kumar condemned China's actions to erase Tibetan identity, citing the abrupt closure of the Ragya Gangjong Sherig Norbuling School in Golog.
BTSM's 2024 national council meeting signified a landmark, addressing vital issues related to Tibet and Sino-Indian relations. The resolutions convey BTSM's dedication to supporting Tibetan autonomy, preserving cultural identity, and countering Chinese expansionist policies, reflecting India's commitment to fostering global harmony.
