Vice President Kamala Harris has sharply criticized former President Donald Trump for what she considers the politicization of a solemn visit to Arlington National Cemetery. Trump took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington on Monday to honor the 13 U.S. military service members who died during the 2021 U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. Harris condemned Trump's actions, saying, "Arlington is not a place for politics."

A video posted by the Trump campaign on TikTok showed the former president walking through the cemetery while criticizing President Joe Biden's handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal, calling it a "disaster." CNN reported that the visit led to a physical altercation between Trump's campaign staff and a cemetery official. Harris took to social media platform X on Saturday to declare that Trump disrespected sacred ground for a political stunt.

"This is nothing new from Donald Trump," Harris said, referencing past instances where Trump allegedly insulted military veterans. She emphasized that all Americans should hold military service members in the highest esteem and argued that Trump fails to meet this basic, sacred duty. Harris reiterated her commitment to honoring fallen heroes and vowed never to politicize their sacrifices.
