In a startling development, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's political advisor Rana Sanaullah has alleged the possibility of WhatsApp messages between former ISI chief General (retd) Faiz Hameed and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan related to events on May 9, ARY News reported.
During an interview with ARY News, Sanaullah dismissed speculation about Hameed, emphasizing that the institution had already issued a clear statement. He alleged that Hameed influenced the appointment of the Army Chief and secured favorable postings using PTI's influence, suggesting Imran Khan's potential involvement.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that Hameed was taken into military custody and court-martial proceedings had commenced. Following the Supreme Court's orders, a detailed inquiry led to appropriate disciplinary actions under the Pakistan Army Act. Multiple violations post-retirement have been noted.
Sanaullah speculated potential WhatsApp exchanges between Hameed and Khan after Hameed's retirement on May 9, possibly facilitated by intermediaries. Addressing questions about General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Sanaullah clarified that discussions about an extension were nonexistent.
