The Government of India has outlined its discontent over the recent visit of fugitive Islamic preacher Zakir Naik to Pakistan. In a statement during a weekly media briefing, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal remarked it was unsurprising that Naik received a warm welcome during his visit to Pakistan.
Jaiswal highlighted that India remains unclear about the documentation Naik used to enter Pakistan. Reflecting on Naik's controversial status in India, Jaiswal recalled that the issue of Zakir Naik was previously raised with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during his visit to New Delhi.
Upon his arrival in Pakistan, Naik was met with high-level officials and proceeded with a lecture series in Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore. His visit prompted discussions about his pending cases in India, including allegations of inciting hate speech and involvement in money laundering.
