In a harrowing incident on Friday morning, an explosion in Balochistan's Mastung district claimed the lives of at least five individuals, including a police officer and three children. The blast targeted a police mobile van near Civil Hospital Chowk, injuring over a dozen others, primarily schoolchildren, according to reports from Dawn.

The explosion, which took place near the Girls High School in Mastung, caused significant damage to nearby vehicles, including auto-rickshaws. District Police Officer Miandad Umrani confirmed the fatalities and injuries, revealing that the explosives were planted on a motorcycle and detonated remotely as the van passed by.

Following the tragic event, emergency responders rushed to the scene to aid the injured, who were swiftly transferred to Civil Hospital Mastung. The blast prompted Balochistan's health department to declare an emergency across hospitals in Quetta. Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti and Acting President Yousuf Raza Gillani strongly condemned the attack, highlighting the nation's resolve against terrorism.
