In a bid to bolster bilateral ties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump engaged in a comprehensive dialogue on illegal immigration, strategic cooperation, and economic engagement between India and the United States. At a press briefing Thursday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri highlighted their renewed commitment to streamline legal mobility for students, professionals, and tourists, while aggressively tackling illegal immigration and human trafficking.

India has invited the US to set up offshore campuses in the Indian education sector as part of the reforms. The discussions underlined their commitment to combating elements threatening public safety and sovereignty, an issue underscored by the recent deportation of over 100 Indian nationals from the USA. An Air Force plane carrying these deportees recently arrived in Amritsar, Punjab.

Foreign Secretary Misri provided a detailed overview of the ongoing discussions, emphasizing PM Modi's meetings with significant figures such as newly confirmed US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Elon Musk, and Vivek Ramaswamy. The extensive four-hour talks at the White House featured a wide array of topics, encompassing strategic, economic, and security cooperation, alongside regional concerns, affirming the high priority both nations place on their relationship.
