The Bay of Bengal is witnessing the 6th Coordinated Patrol, or CORPAT, alongside the 4th iteration of the bilateral exercise BONGOSAGOR, as naval vessels from Bangladesh and India come together. The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the operations span from March 10 to 12, 2025, supervised by Commander Flotilla West.

This strategic collaboration involves the Bangladesh Navy's warship BNS ABU UBAIDAH and a maritime patrol aircraft, with the Indian Navy deploying the INS RANVIR and a supporting helicopter. Launched in 2018, these joint efforts aim to thwart illicit activities, including illegal fishing, smuggling, and piracy, while enhancing maritime security.

Officials highlight the patrols' role in information-sharing and crime prevention, ultimately bolstering regional maritime security and economic development. The recent BONGOSAGAR-23 and CORPAT undertook joint operations in November 2023, involving communication drills and tactical exercises, further solidifying the navies' cooperation through humanitarian and disaster relief initiatives.
