Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam of Mauritius expressed high praise for the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting the range of contributions by the Indian government to Mauritius's development. Ramgoolam reemphasized the significance of the enduring cultural ties between the two nations and expressed gratitude for the extension of Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cards to Mauritians.

During an event with the Indian community, Ramgoolam thanked Modi for attending Mauritius's 57th Independence Day celebrations as the chief guest, underscoring the enrichment his visit brought to the country. He acknowledged India's involvement in key sectors, such as construction, tourism, healthcare, hospitality, and financial services, as critical to Mauritius's economic growth.

Ramgoolam also recounted the historical journey of indentured laborers arriving in Mauritius equipped with the Bhagwat Gita and the Ramayana, praising their enduring connection to their homeland. Encouraging further Indian investment through the 'Bridge to the Future' program, he concluded his address with the words, 'Jai Hind Jai Mauritius'.
