The British High Commission in India recently hosted a farewell for Royal Marines Colonel Simon Westlake, marking the end of his service as the Naval Advisor to India. His leadership was lauded for strengthening naval collaboration between the UK and India.

Announced in a High Commission post on X, Captain Daniel Peskett will succeed Westlake, with expectations to enhance maritime cooperation and defence relations further. The post expressed optimism for continuing collaboration: "With Captain Daniel Peskett taking over, we look ahead with confidence and renewed energy. Fair winds and following seas!"

This change in leadership comes amid growing defence ties, highlighted by the India-UK Vision 2035 endorsed by PM Narendra Modi and UK PM Keir Starmer, focusing on a deeper defence partnership, industrial collaboration, and heightened regional maritime security.
