The Indian Armed Forces contingent has landed in Seychelles to participate in 'Lamitiye 2026,' a joint military exercise with the Seychelles Defence Forces. The operation is set to take place at the Seychelles Defence Academy from March 9th to 20th, 2026.
'LAMITIYE,' translating to 'Friendship' in Creole, is a biennial event scheduled in Seychelles since 2001. This year's edition marks a significant milestone, with participation from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Notably, the Assam Regiment, INS Trikand, and a C-130 aircraft are partaking in the exercise.
The exercise's primary goal is to bolster synergy in sub-conventional operations within semi-urban landscapes, while improving cooperative training and interoperability between the nations during peacekeeping assignments. Joint tactical drills will focus on neutralizing potential threats and exhibiting advanced equipment and technology. Activities will encompass Field Training Exercises and culminate in validation exercises to evaluate operational preparedness. This initiative underlines India's dedication to regional stability and defense partnerships.
