In a pivotal move to bolster diplomatic relations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted Vietnamese President To Lam for a high-level bilateral meeting at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Wednesday. This significant event punctuates the Vietnamese leader's first state visit to India, which commenced with a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The warm reception, attended by President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Modi, underscored the enhancing strategic partnership between the two nations. Accentuated by cultural performances by children, the ceremony set a positive tone for subsequent discussions that covered diverse topics, including bilateral cooperation and pressing regional and global issues.
Prior to his New Delhi engagement, President To Lam visited Bodh Gaya, a significant cultural and spiritual site, where he offered prayers at the Mahabodhi Temple. His itinerary included meetings with Indian officials, like Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary in Bihar and Union Minister Nityanand Rai upon arrival in Delhi.
Further advancing the diplomatic agenda, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval met with President To Lam, engaging in talks aimed at strengthening the multifaceted strategic partnership. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the visit marks a 'significant juncture' as both nations celebrate ten years of comprehensive strategic cooperation.
This visit extends beyond capital discussions, as President To Lam is scheduled to visit Mumbai for business forums at the National Stock Exchange, highlighting economic collaborations.
