As Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh sets foot in Hanoi today, his pivotal diplomatic mission to Vietnam and South Korea marks a renewed thrust in deepening India's strategic military cooperation. Intent on enhancing defense industrial partnerships and fostering maritime collaboration, Singh's visit underscores India's commitment to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
The trip, which coincides with the 136th birth anniversary of Vietnam's iconic leader Ho Chi Minh, celebrates a decade of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between India and Vietnam. This partnership was elevated to an Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during the Vietnamese President's state visit to India in May 2026, highlighting shared interests in regional prosperity.
Following his stay in Vietnam, Singh will journey to South Korea, engaging in bilateral talks with key defense and administration officials. This includes the joint inauguration of the Indian War Memorial, a tribute to India's significant role in the Korean War, epitomizing India's commitment to global peace. His visit forms a critical part of aligning India's 'Act East Policy' with South Korea's 'Indo-Pacific Strategy', marking a new chapter in bilateral relations.
