Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal solemnly paid homage to the victims of the Air India Flight 182 bombing at the Kanishka Memorial, a poignant reminder of one of history's deadliest acts of aviation terrorism. The catastrophic event claimed 329 lives when the aircraft exploded over the Atlantic in 1985.
During his meeting with the victims' families, Minister Goyal emphasized India and Canada's unified resolve to prevent such tragedies. Victims' family members expressed gratitude for this remembrance, highlighting the importance of acknowledging their loss.
Goyal's three-day official visit to Canada coincided with strategic negotiations between New Delhi and Ottawa to finalize the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. The minister's engagements with Canadian leaders centered on bolstering bilateral economic ties and exploring new investment opportunities.
